Apart from being "Bourne" with a currently unacceptable social first name…Karyn Bourne just wants some laughs, to sing & make things better in the world with those she's surrounded with.

Calm looking but an out-of-control orange fireball of feelings.

Did you have any musical influences for this EP?

I had many. The Rainbow Girls, Caitlin Jemma, Courtney Marie Andrews, John Craigie, Bella White, Liv Greene, Paul Kelly, Meg Mac.

What is your songwriting process?

I usually start with a chorus as that's the catchy part. Sometimes it's a sentence rolling constantly in my head, or a word could be about a feeling, or an experience.

Was/is there a plan to ever have a Karyn Bourne band or live shows?

Definitely no plan. I never have plans for anything, I just make a decision & run with what evolves from that. Either mad or smart, I have no idea. I've done some live sets in Geelong. My musical angel Isabella Khalife has joined me playing cajon whenever she is available. I'm always open to more musicians as they bring different elements & I'm always happy to hear them.

Playing live wasn't in my vision originally as I suffered major self doubt on stage. The stage used to be a home for me, then it turned into a hell… I don't know how, or when, but it has taken me well over 10 years to get back there. I'm so proud of myself to be able to do it again.

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be and why?

Would love to open for Margo Cilker. I feel the reasons we write songs are similar, I haven't met her but I think we are both dorks at heart with big feels within our worlds & how we work things out via songwriting. For me, music really is a source of healing. I know it is for many.
