Known for her powerhouse drumming, bold melodies and unique tone, RENAÉ’s sound bursts the world of bubble-gum pop.
I love how unresolved this story is, insomuch as it’s about someone with such low self esteem that no one could ever degrade the protagonist better than themselves and there’s no big turn-around in a final moment of self gratitude. Ironically, it’s quite a big sounding Robyn-esque tune.
Clever and unique. Turning an anxiety into a superpower of ambivalence to external criticism because, she hates her song and singing far more than you ever could - but she shouldn’t - but she does - but she shouldn’t.
It feels redundant to critique and perhaps that’s an unintended genius? Off-the-shelf chords and structure but offers loads of promise for future releases.
