lucidbloom x Signals in the Skies

lucidbloom

lucidbloom is a wave of lush melancholy from the Blue Mountains, Australia, layering hypnotic vocals and emotive guitar work, padded by delicate atmospherics and intensified by a spectrum of pulsing and percussive drums.

If I’m a sucker for any three things, it’s bass-driven songs, ambiguous; yet tacitly provocative lyrics and femme-strong representation.

This in a nutshell is -please prove me wrong world- another perfectly accessible song; commercial in every detail, that will likely be missed by an ignorant industry, too busy trying to reinvent the wheel, when bands like this utterly OWN what we already know and love about said “wheel”.

Everything from head down about this song is as close to perfect as one could hope for. The lyrics and vocals are of ALVVAYS-calibre but don’t seem out of place outside a Dream Pop framework; a framework straight out of the Fleetwood Mac playbook, but with several inflexions and reflections of more “indie” perennials The Breeders & The Clouds to name just two.

It’s not over-sophisticated and about as un-spiky as I’d be prepared to generally like, but it had me from the very opening and made me replay it immediately after. Excited to hear what else these guys might have for us all.
